Our hearts and prayers go out to the victims of Typhoon Yolanda.

We would also like to pray for the victims of the cyclone that hit Somalia.

We also pray for the residents of Sumatra Island. May everyone there and everything they own be safe from Mount Sinabung.

Vehicle 19

Vehicle 19 received low scores in the reviews but it's really not that bad. And the plot was actually good. Perhaps one reason why they rated it so low was because they could only compare it to "The Fast and the Furious" and other car-action movies out there. And why would anyone expect much from Paul Walker's acting? I mean haven't they seen his other movies?

Anyway, I think you have to be someone who has played NFS or GTA to appreciate Vehicle 19. The scenes from start to finish, the neighborhood, even the incidental characters reminded us so much of these games. The car wash and paint shop scene was sooo GTA!

By the way, NFS = Need For Speed and GTA = Grand Theft Auto.

So if you feel like watching Paul Walker do some of your favorite GTA or NFS moments, watch Vehicle 19. But if you expect academy award-winning everything, then stay away.

Random Things I'm Eyeing

Hi everyone! It's me Shirl and I'd like to share random photos of things (from the internet) that I'm currently eyeing.

1. These Swatch watches are so pretty! I wonder if they're waterproof. Two years from now, I'll be needing most of my stuff to be waterproof and/or water resistant.

2. How cute can these shoes be? They're pretty cheap too. The most expensive is only around Ph₱2000.

The following - I REALLY, REALLY WANT!

3. Anything solar-powered is too cool! I wonder if there's a store here in the Philippines that sell these Energizer products?

4. Either of these rock! I have never used nailers before but I trust both brands. Plus I won't have any trouble looking for parts or accessories because Black&Decker and Bosch are popular here.

5. Bosch 10" worksite table saw. If I can have this, it will be my favorite thing on earth!

6. Bosch Power Hand Saw.

By now you're probably wondering what a girl could possibly like in power tools? Well, when I was a kid I secretly wanted to be a carpenter. Sadly I live in a country where such profession is snubbed. This is another reason why I wanted to be Japanese so badly. The Japanese have respect for these kind of jobs. In Japan all I'll have to do is find an artisan and apply as an apprentice. Here try to do that and your parents will forget you exist especially when they've been working their ass off just to send you to a good college. So yeah, that's the story.

Now let's go back to the cool stuff, shall we?

7. GoPro: Hero 3 White Edition HD Camera

That's all for now. What about you? What are the things you're eyeing? Please share below. :-)

Even Bees Need A Break

We went to the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta last February 24th at Clark Airfield in Pampanga.

It was very different from what we expected. We arrived around 2:30 pm. Their Sunday schedule said ↓ so we expected to see a lot. We didn't.
2:30 - 2:45 PMFEATI/PHILSCA Rocketry/ RC Demonstration
2:45 - 3:15 PMRadio-Controlled Model Aircraft Demonstration
3:15 - 3:45 PMPT13 Stearman fly by
3:45 - 4:15 PMACFC Ultralight / Microlight aircraft formation flights
4:15 - 4:45 PMSkydiving Exhibition
4:45 - 5:15 PMMeynard Halili / Aerobatic Show
5:15 - 6:15 PMRP/ Malaysian / Spain / Australia Paragliding Exhibition
5:30 - 7:00 PMHot Air Balloon Night Glow, RC Nightflyers, Fireworks

There was NO skydiving, NO aerobatic, NO paragliding, NOT even RC flyers that afternoon. It was a bit disappointing especially after driving for an hour and paying ₱250 entrance fee per person. Well it was the last day so maybe they didn't care about putting up a good show anymore.

Anyway it was a family affair for us and we enjoyed being together. As they said it's not about the place, it's whom you're with. :-)

So what was it like being there? Well... it was like Boracay, peak season, minus the ocean. Hahaha! How 'bout this? Hot, dusty camping site with food kiosks here and there. :-p

If you're planning to go there next year, please don't forget to bring:
1. friends or family (of course, the many-er the merrier! ;-D)
2. book or i-pod (if you choose to go alone and be alone)
3. tent or
4. umbrella and something to sit on like picnic blankets or beach mats
5. hats/caps and
6. sunglasses
7. wet wipes or hand sanitizer (The portable toilets were unforgettably gross! In fact you can forget items 1 to 6 but NOT hand sanitizers. As for me, I chose not to drink water that day. Very unhealthy- I know. But it was a path I willingly took. *drama queen! Hahaha!)
8. The place is ideal for flying kites so you can add kites to your list too. :-)

We leave you with our first ever firework shots. Be happy everyone!

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is simply about love and sharing it.
The chocolates...are merely freebies of the day.

Thank you Talei

This is an overdue post, we received this package a few weeks back and we'd just like to thank the sweetest girl from Aus named Talei for the wonderful presents. Notice that she originally addressed this to Makati but we asked her to send it to Bulacan instead. We think post office people in the province are more trustworthy.

The bag included the cutest glass frog pendant. It originally had a black rubber string but I had an extra silver chain so I changed it.

Yay for this 100% Australian-made 14" BOOMERANG!!!

Aboriginal painting of Emu.

That's all. :-)

Monkey D. Luffy...NOT!!!

Demalo Black --- we get. But the PINK straw hat --- wtf!?!

But since we love to put humor on things, let's just look at it this way.

LOL! :-D
