When we think of fruits and flowers,we imagine: orchids, hibiscus, leis, coconuts, pineapples, mangoes and the nice blue ocean. Very Hawaiian, isn't it? That was our original plan by the way. We were supposed to go to our favorite island but we had to book our trip on a later date. So goodbye Hawaiian Skirt! :-p
Anyway, it's pretty awesome how creative we can be at the last minute. (Okay so not exactly last minute but seven days?- that's not much at all.)
So here we are:
But if you must know, we are dressed up as One Piece characters from the movie: One Piece Film Z. Naldo cosplayed Monkey D. Luffy, captain of the Straw Hat Pirates and I cosplayed Nico Robin, archaeologist of the Straw Hat Pirates. Luffy and Robin are both devil-fruit users. Take note: devil-FRUIT. Ah! Now you get it! :-)
Here's more. They're called devil-fruit users because they consumed special fruits that allow them to have super human abilities called devil fruit powers. Robin consumed the Hana Hana no Mi fruit and hana is the Japanese word for bloom and flower. The name of her attacks usually have the word "fleur" such as "Seis Fleur: Twist" and "Ocho Fleur: Flip". FLEUR! French. Flower! Hurray for our FRUITS and FLOWER One Piece celebration! :-D
We are HUGE One Piece fans! So to be able to come up with this a week before the anniversary is a great deal for us. We celebrated the anniversary while dressed up as our favorite One Piece characters. And to spice up our photos, we used screen shots from the movie One Piece Film Z as our background. Pretty cool, huh?
By the way, the costumes may look super easy to put together but it took as three trips to the mall to complete all pieces. The hardest find of all was Robin's knitted turtle-neck sweater. It was just impossible since it's 35ºC/95ºF here.
We never thought our favorite anime will come in handy this way. Come to think of it, this is far better than the Hawaiian-theme. So what's the lesson here? Don't let spoiled plans ruin your anniversary. Sometimes plans simply don't happen but there's always something fun you can do together. (Nope, it doesn't have to be One Piece-related.) What matters is you make wonderful memories. Sweet priceless memories.
